Introducing:: Ranunculus

Is there any flower more beautiful than ranunculus? These beauties are in peak season December through May but we have been seeing some pop up throughout the summer especially when the weather is cooler. They are available in white, green, pink, red, yellow, peach, orange and burgundy. A few bi-color varieties exist, but availability is limited.

Pricing for ranunculus is moderate. Ranunculus is best used in bouquets, centerpieces, and arrangements. A ruffly variety of spray rose is an excellent substitution for ranunculus in body flowers or when otherwise not available.

The green goddess calla lily is a flower that not many people even know about. It is unique, fresh and strikingly bold. These blooms are so dramatic that you only need a few to make an impact. Green goddess callas are available year round, but may be tricky to find as they are not in high demand.

Introducing:: Fiddlehead Fern

Today’s spotlight is on fiddlehead fern. Fiddleheads are actually unfurled ferns. They are available year round and usually are shipped from Hawaii. These whimsical curls are moderately priced, but only a few are needed to make an impact! They are hardy, and will not wilt. Substitute curled wire for fiddlehead fern for a fraction of the cost!

Introducing:: Allium

Allium are one of the coolest flowers! These large purple spheres really make a statement. They are available from January to August. While allium are a more expensive bloom, as you can see, just a few really make an impact. Use allium with care, as they are a part of the onion family and have a definite oniony scent. If you like the look of allium, but not the price (or the scent!) purple agapanthus are a great substitute!
